Who we are
TapIt is a trading name of TPS Payments Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17512219). Our registered office is First Floor Offices, 36 Clifford Road, London E17 4JE.
We are the controller of the personal information described in this notice. If you have any questions about it, email us at hello@tapitpayments.co.uk.
The information we collect
- When you ask for a quote: your name, business name, phone number, email address, type of business, approximate monthly card takings and anything you write in the message box.
- When you use the cost check: the cost check runs in your browser and doesn't send us anything. If you choose to add your figures to a quote request, we receive them as part of your message.
- When you email us: your contact details and whatever you include in your email.
- When you visit the website: our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. These server logs are used to keep the website secure and working.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare your quote. If you're a sole trader or partner, this is a step you've asked us to take before entering into a contract. Otherwise, we rely on our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- To follow up on the quote we've sent you, based on our legitimate interest in doing so.
- To keep the website secure and prevent misuse of the quote form, based on our legitimate interest in protecting our systems.
We only use the details you send us to deal with your enquiry. We don't sell your information.
Who we share it with
- Companies that provide our website hosting and email, who handle information on our behalf and only on our instructions.
- If you decide to apply for a card payment account, the payment provider that will supply your account, so it can assess your application. It will carry out its own identity and fraud checks and will explain how it uses your information in its own privacy notice.
- Anyone we're required to share information with by law.
Some of our service providers may store information outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure the transfer is protected in the way UK data protection law requires, for example by an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry doesn't lead to an account, we delete your details within 12 months of our last contact with you. If you become a customer, we keep your information for as long as you're a customer, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep business records, which is usually six years. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it or stop using it. In some cases you can also ask us to send it to you or to someone else in a commonly used format.

Cookies
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. It doesn't load anything from other websites either: our fonts, images and code all come from our own server.
If we ever add cookies that aren't strictly necessary, we'll ask for your consent first and update this notice.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
